WE'RE HAVING A BABY!

Thank you all for your sweet comments on my Instagram post! Isaac and I are over the moon and so excited to watch our little family grow. Olive hasn't really grasped the idea that there is a baby in mommy's tummy but maybe she'll figure it out once the bump gets bigger. =)
My due date is April 15 and I just reached 14 weeks last Saturday! I can't believe how fast everything is going. Having a toddler to chase after and entertain all day definitely changes things! This pregnancy has been completely the opposite of my first. I had practically zero morning sickness with Olive and this time it's been non stop nausea and a lot of barf bags! Maybe it's a boy?

^^ that moment when we FINALLY got the letters in the right order and the second B floated away!

I saw a bunch of cute pictures on Pinterest one day using those big gold balloons that spell B A B Y and so I ordered some and planned a weekend outing to get pics. Fast forward FIVE rain checks - we finally got a pretty day to snap some pics and those silly balloons ended up being so much trickier to work with than I thought! I'm pretty sure we looked like something out of a sitcom: the wind was blowing (hello fall!) and our balloons didn't have weights so we were holding tight to the strings while trying to hold onto Olive so she didn't run (fall) down the stairs and then one of the B's floated away and I was like NOOOOOOOOOOO this is not happening! Hope you at least get some laughs from our balloon fails! There would have been a million better ways to do this and I just didn't think it through! Lol

// 1st Trimester Recap //

1. Morning sickness all day every day - there are bunch of home remedies on the web for morning sickness but I'm sorry to say I was too lazy (tired?) to do any of them. I tried a few teas but didn't have much luck. I kept a bag of rice cakes in my purse 24/7 and crunched one any time I got queasy.

2. Crying at all the sappy movies! I binge watched every season of the Office and sobbed like a baby at the finale. I've watched Brad & Hailey's birth video a dozen times with Olive and still tear up when I watch it. Emotions are all over the place. I woke up from a nap the other day so grumpy and angry and had no idea why! Poor Isaac. He has been the most patient husband ever these last couple months!

3. Craving all the carbs and non of the veggies... bagels, cereal, toast and sandwiches, sandwiches, sandwiches. I have zero energy to make any dinners that take longer than 15 minutes - most nights I'll throw a veggie burger (love these!) in the skillet and have it with a salad and hummus.

4. Ridiculous sense of smell and not in a good way. I'll just leave it at that.

5. Napping every chance I get, which lucky for me is twice a day since Olive still naps for 2 hours every morning and afternoon. I honestly believe that napping every chance you get is the best thing you can do during pregnancy. On days Olive and I are running all over town doing errands and visiting friends or family I feel so exhausted and find myself being a less patient mommy and wife. I try to keep our outings to one or two days a week and try to make it home for at least one of O's naps on those days. She and I are both happier when we get a couple hours of quiet. =)

6. Still wearing my normal clothes (I didn't "pop" till about 20 weeks with Olive, but I've heard you show sooner the second time!) so no cute maternity links yet, but I did order these Blanqi tights and can't wait to start wearing them during that awkward stage where normal clothes are uncomfortable but maternity clothes are too big.

7. Ok, favorites: lavender essential oil at night getting me right to sleep, all the button downsthis moisturizer helping me through the crazy hormonal break outs (I might even start using it on the bump to keep away stretch marks), and while not technically a "favorite" I've been taking black strap molasses and adding spirulina to my smoothies to up my iron intake.

It's fun doing all this a second time... I feel a little more prepared and at the same time love that each pregnancy is different and it's just a wild crazy ride no matter how much you think you know. =)

Hope you all have a great week - thanks for reading! xoxo Christine
