BOTANICAL GARDENS

The countdown till baby girl's "guess date" has begun (less than 5 weeks!) and we're filling every weekend with a fun activity to help pass the time. I LOVE being pregnant but I am soooooo excited to meet our baby girl!

This weekend we visited the UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens and they were gorgeous! I was a little unsure about going this early in the year but they had plenty to see and it was all so beautiful. Our favorite part was the greenhouse - everything looked so lush and alive! Botanical gardens are one of my favorite things to visit and anytime we take a trip I always google if there is a garden nearby for us to visit. I can't believe I didn't know about UNCC Botanical Gardens until this weekend! Definitely worth a little visit if you live in the area. (And it's free!)

Hope you are having a great week! xoxo

OCEAN ISLE BEACH

We vacationed at Ocean Isle with my family last September when I was right smack in the middle of my first trimester - I was so nauseous and even though we took some adorable photos I just wasn't in the mood to sort through them so I'm finally sharing some of them now! #BetterLateThanNever

Olive had just turned 1 and was so cute running up and down the beach. She was so confident in the sand but needed a little hand-holding to get in the ocean. It was cloudy a few of the days we were there and I was a little bummed about it at the time but looking back at the photos the cloudy ones look so much better than the ones I took on the sunny days!
I'm excited to see how much more confident Olive is at the beach and the pool this summer now that she's a year older. If bath time is any indicator we're going to have a very adventurous little fishy on our hands! She just learned how to blow bubbles in the bath tub and it's the cutest thing!

This was Isaac's first time at Ocean Isle and he loved it! He was pricing beach houses while we were there haha a beach house is definitely on the dream board for the future ;-)

Hope you all have a great week! xoxo

MATERNITY PHOTOS IN NEWPORT

Today I'm sharing some maternity photos we took on our babymoon in New England a couple weeks ago. It snowed the day we arrived and made everything look so beautiful and wintery. It was cold and windy but absolutely breathtaking standing on these cliffs watching the water crash on the rocks. I'm pretty sure we could have spent the whole day out here!

Our winter babymoon was everything we hoped for! We spent a few days at the Vanderbilt Grace hotel in Newport, RI and got so spoiled and pampered by the staff there! They were all so friendly and took really good care of us. Isaac had arranged for chocolate covered strawberries and drinks in our room when we arrived and a couples massage for later in the week. We did the Cliff Walk (where these pictures were taken), toured Rosecliff Mansion (so pretty!), and went ice skating outdoors at night under a million stars and dozens of twinkle lights! We found plenty of gluten free options at local cafes and restaurants and really enjoyed slowing down and taking time to relax. It felt like we were dating again walking (& skating!) hand in hand just talking and dreaming about our future. =)

Big hugs and thank you to my sister and her husband for staying with Olive while we were gone! They took such good care of our baby and definitely helped make my first time away from her as easy as possible!

Hope you all have a beautiful week! xoxo Christine

SUNSET ON THE GREENWAY

We leave on our babymoon tomorrow! EEK! I'm so excited to take a little trip - I love seeing new places! We're flying into Boston and spending a day there before heading to a spa in Newport, RI for a few days. I think it's going to be a beautiful #winterbabymoon and I'm secretly hoping for a teeny bit of snow to make everything look magical while we're there... we'll see!

In between making a dozen lists (I'm a huge list maker and have about 20 going all the time) and getting things ready for our trip we snuck out to the greenway with Olive for a sunset walk the other night. Everyone we passed had a dog and Olive got excited over every single one! She loves seeing doggies but is still a little nervous when they come up to her to say hi haha
Spending time outside with this little family of mine is one of my favorite things to do - even when it's chilly and our noses are freezing!

I came across this video on Apartment Therapy of 9 Habits To Make You Happier At Home and had to link it here because it's so cute and I agree with (and practice!) all 9 habits. =)

Hope you all have a beautiful week!

FIRST SNOW AT THE NEW HOUSE

First snow in our new home! Here in Charlotte, snow is a big deal. Schools literally close for just TALK of potential flurries. So you can imagine our excitement when we woke up to a winter wonderland this weekend! It snowed a whopping 1 inch and we couldn't wait to bundle up and get outside to play in it! =)

I remember last winter it snowed (quite a bit more than an inch) and I pulled Olive's pack'n'play up to the window so she could see outside. She was too tiny to play and we stayed in and watched the snow fall from our window. This year she was so excited to go outside - we had a blast running around the backyard seeing everything icy and glistening. The trees looked like they were covered in twinkle lights the way the sun was hitting them! I am not a cold weather person but there is something so beautiful about seeing the whole world covered in a blanket of white.

The last couple weeks we've been trying to knock out some home projects and we're just about finished! We painted our fireplace white and it's totally transformed our living room - I love how much brighter everything looks (just in time to start shopping for spring decor ;-)!  Isaac is building me a pantry since there were no shelves in the pantry when we moved in. It's coming along nicely and I'm hoping to have all the jars and dry goods off my dining room table by next week! haha

Hope you all are enjoying the weather wherever you are - have a beautiful week! xoxo Christine
